Doctor Who : January Birthday Award Suits Packed!

It was a big month for Doctor Who this month, with the release of new Doctor – Peter Capaldi’s, new outfit, Tom Baker’s birthday, TV award win and death of Who actor Roger-Lloyd Pack.

imageImages released on the BBC website on the 29 January, showed Capaldi posing in his new look Abercrombie black suit with a very Pertwee-esque cut to the jacket and red lining.

The jacket has proved to be mega-popular with Abercrombie reporting near sellout of the new line. What a nice little earner to make the new Doctor’s clothes.

It wasn’t much of a surprise though and we already knew what he would be wearing. No, not because we had time-travelled into the future to have a look.

Only 2 weeks earlier – on the 16 Jan, the Beeb had released pictures of Capaldi and Jenna-Louise Coleman on set and Capaldi was wearing the same suit from the unveiling.

Was it an error by the publishing department? I mean they didn’t have to release this photo as the other pictures released showed Capaldi riding a horse in a Roman Toga.

Could still be a great Doctor!

Meanwhile, on the 22 Jan – the greatest Doctor ever (and Curator) – Thomas Stewart Baker turned 80, making him still the oldest living Doctor to date from the original series.

Also on the 22 Jan, Who won a number of awards at the National TV Awards for Best Drama and Best Drama Performance for Matt Smith.

Finally, January also saw the death of Roger Lloyd-Pack who was best known for played Trigger in Only Fools and Horses but also played John Lumic in 2 x Tennant Doctor Who adventures – Rise Of The Cybermen & Age Of Steel – 2006.

All-in-all, a busy month for Who.
