How did the PF and Revenue find a record amount of cocaine in the Port of Santos?
Drugs were found inside a container mixed with 24 tons of metal scrap; amount is considered the largest of the year in seizures of this type in the Port of Santos

This Monday, the 21st, the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue seized more than 1.2 tons of cocaine in the Port of Santos, which would be exported to Spain, arriving via the Port of Málaga. The drug was found inside a container, mixed with tons of metal scrap.
According to the Federal Revenue Service, which located the drug in metal boxes, inside a container with 24 tons of scrap, it was the largest seizure of its kind in the year at the Port of Santos.
To find the narcotics, the Revenue relied on new parameters inserted into the Risk Management systems, which allowed a more precise selection of suspicious cargo, and blocked the metal scraps that were stored in five containers.
An analysis of the scanner images of the suspicious containers was also carried out and the use of two scent dogs from the Federal Revenue Service.
Once the presence of the drug was identified, the Federal Police were called and opened a police investigation to investigate the materiality and authorship of the crime of international drug trafficking. There is no information on anyone arrested in the incident.
As shown by Estadão, the Port of Santos is used by criminal factions, such as the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) to transport drugs to other continents.
Last week, the PF carried out 12 search and seizure warrants and five arrest warrants against suspects involved in international drug trafficking. Those under investigation had the strategy of opening the containers and placing the drugs among loads of paper, which would be exported to Europe, via the Port of Santos.
