Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fired his defence minister, Yoav Gallant, and appointed Israel Katz to succeed him.
In a shock announcement on Tuesday, Netanyahu mentioned he had misplaced confidence in Gallant over the administration of Israel’s ongoing wars in Gaza and Lebanon.
“Over the previous few months that belief has eroded. In mild of this, I made a decision right this moment to finish the time period of the defence minister,” the prime minister mentioned in a press release issued by his workplace.
Shortly afterwards, Gallant mentioned in a put up on X that working to make sure Israel’s safety would “all the time stay the mission of my life.”
