Orla de Salvador has 705 incidents of robbery in the 1st half of this year

It’s no surprise that the lack of security is keeping sportspeople away from Salvador’s waterfront. In the first half of this year, there were 705 robberies, according to the Civil Police itself. Barra leads the ranking, with 172 records. Next, Rio Vermelho, with 161 cases. Ondina and Pituba account for 95 and 64 records, respectively. Soon after we have Boca do Rio (54), Itapuã (50), Piatã (37), Amaralina (28), Costa Azul (11), Armação (12), Patamares (11) and, finally, Pituaçu (07).

At the beginning of September, a street racer was stabbed during a robbery in Rio Vermelho. The cell phone has continued to be a coveted object, but smartwatches – a watch that can cost up to R$8,000 – have become popular with thieves.

The product is sold informally on websites, because there are people who buy it. The act of stimulation keeps the person in a comfortable situation, until the day they become a victim of the reflection of their own crime.

Two robberies per day, according to Civil Police data

The problem of lack of security on Salvador’s waterfront is only getting worse. If we take into account the data from Barra (172), Rio Vermelho (161) and Ondina (95), there are 428 records. That is, an average of 2 occurrences per day. Residents report that the majority of victims are street racers, approached when the squad breaks up, and some become more tired and stay behind. Typically, they target women and unaccompanied people.

To CORREIO, the Civil Police responded that: “The Specialized Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic) and the Theft and Robbery Suppression Police Station carry out continuous investigations to suppress this type of crime”, says the note.

However, we find a car and another in the city, but not for this new public that is a reality in Salvador and that the thieves have already seen.

Lawyer denies that businessman committed a crime

The judge must, with good reason, be convinced of the materiality of the fact and the existence of sufficient evidence of authorship or participation by the accused to take him to trial by a popular jury.

After it came to light that businessman Cícero Leandro Silva Barreto will sit among the defendants, accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend Paloma de Souza Ventura 12 years ago, in the city of Amargosa, the defense spoke about the case:

“Nowhere in the process is there any evidence that Cícero attempted to push Ms. Paloma out of her moving vehicle,” says the note, signed by the defendant’s lawyer, Tatson Pizanni. As a result of the fall, the victim suffered head trauma and became quadriplegic.
